About Us
A SERIES TO SHOWCASE NEW ZEALAND JAZZ COMPOSERS
Beginning in New Zealand Music Month in May, and running through to the Wellington Jazz Festival in October, the fortnightly shows will feature all original works from 12 different local composers. The lineup features work from the likes of Wellingtonian APRA Jazz Award winning composers; Jake Baxendale, Louisa Williamson, and Callum Allardice, as well as Auckland artists Callum Passells (Hans Pucket) and Chelsea Prastiti (SKILAA), and Hawkes Bay’s Anton Wuts.
The series is made possible by the generous support of Creative New Zealand, through their Creative Impact Fund, aimed at delivering high quality art to enrich audiences and artist communities. With the help of this funding, all of the involved performers and composers get paid a guaranteed wage, an opportunity to experiment with new unreleased material, and a high quality live recording. This series is designed to help support composers to write more music and play more gigs. This helps generate more work for the many excellent musicians in this city, and creates more high quality art for the people of Te Whanganui a Tara, and Aotearoa.
Shows will take place every first and third Friday of the month, from May 2nd through until October 17th, at Bedlam and Squalor, Level 1/18 Garrett St, Te Aro.
Tickets are available from Humanitix.com for $15, or for $20 on the door.
Thanks to CNZ for their support.
